I got some goodies for yall today. First up is the new single from Swizzie. The joint is called "Money In The Bank" and it has the same club appeal as "It's Me Snitches." Not quite as hot, but Swizz is the producer of the year, so I don't think he can go wrong right now. Click HERE to check it out.

OPRAH'S TOWN HALL MEETING
If there is one good thing about the Don Imus controversy, I would have to say that it has sparked discussions about racism and sexism across the country. It's sad that it has taken a 50 sumthin year old white man to make Black America realize that there is a problem with our society and the images of us that are being portrayed to the masses.
A lot of people in the media have been pointing the finger at Hip Hop music and culture for today's problems. I don't think you can only say that "rappers need to get the big butt women out of their videos or those rappers need to stop saying bitch and ho." But what about the radio stations and the video channels who don't give the consumer any options other than the mainstream songs and videos. What about the parents who allow their kids to sit and watch BET all day. THOSE are the people who need to be held accountable.
Oprah held a two day town hall meeting discussing these topics. She had guests such as Common, Kevin Liles, Russell Simmons, Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Al Sharpton, and many others discuss these issues and many more. Here is some video footage. I will post more footage as it becomes available.

Al Sharpton had been calling for Imus' firing from the very begining of this situation. Imus first lost some of his sponsors, then he lost his television show, and today he lost his radio show.
I think the media has done a poor job of handling this situation. So many media outlets are were trying to give Mr. Imus a slap on the wrist because according to them so many rappers use negative language to refer to women in there lyrics. Some journalist were so proficient in their research that they were able to quote lyrics from Tupac's song "I get around" as well as various lyrics from the Notorious BIG. NEWSFLASH... Those guys are dead. I offer this for anyone who wishes to compare rap lyrics to the comentary of Mr. Imus. Don Imus is a man whose voice is heard over federally regulated airwaves. Therefore, allowing him to stay on the air would lead one to believe that his statements are supported by our wonderful federal government. Rappers in a sense are employees of the record labels who they record for. Record labels encourage violence, sex, and profanity because they know those type of things will sell. So these peoples beefs shouldn't only be with the rappers, but with the companies who employ them. Don Imus also targeted a specific group of women. Other than when Biggie said "Fu*k the state pen/Fu*k ho*s at Penn State" I can't think of any rap song that has specifically pointed out one group of women. Of course there needs to be some changes in todays music. But to compare the ramblings of a 60 somethin year old rich white man to the lyrics of a rap song is just wrong. Yes the lyrics and the messages in today's music needs to be addressed, but this was not the platform to do so.
